Server Installation

The Pathfinder Server is a critical component of the Pathfinder suite, designed to facilitate automated network discovery, allow access to API endpoints for management, create third-party extensions and python plugins. The server is self-hosted and managed on premise. Server application is essential for the operation of various modules within the suite. The following modules rely on the Pathfinder Server and its services to ensure seamless communication with the Pathfinder system. The Pathfinder Server is engineered to streamline network discovery processes, thereby simplifying the management of extensive and intricate network environments.

System Requirements

Currently Pathfinder Server can only be installed on Microsoft Windows systems and some Linux Distributions.

It is possible to install Pathfinder Server on a desktop system (Windows 10), however, we recommend a Server edition of Windows to run Pathfinder Server.

  • 8 GB RAM

  • 500 MB available storage on hard disk

  • Windows 11 (x64)

  • Windows Server 2022 (x64)

  • Debian 12 or greater 

  • Ubuntu 24.04 or greater 

  • Red Hat 9.5

Please make sure that the database server can be accessed from the machine you install Pathfinder Server on

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and above

  • MariaDB 10.2.4 and above

  • PostgreSQL 9.4 and above

  • Microsoft Azure (MS SQL) 2008 and above

  • Firebird 3.0

  • Oracle 11g and above

 

The Pathfinder Server can be installed on both windows and linux. The windows installer provides a user-friendly web interface on the browser for managing and monitoring the Pathfinder Server and its agents. The following pages describe the installation process for the Pathfinder server application.
