Creating Discovery Jobs

To create a new Discovery Job, click the plus button in the Job Management interface. To edit an existing job, simply double-click its entry in the list.

Begin by defining the job’s basic properties in the left-hand panel. At minimum, you’ll need to specify a name and select a job type.

Assigning Subnets

In the first section, search for and select the subnets you want this job to scan, then click Assign to include them. To remove any assigned subnets, use the controls on the right side of the interface.

For more granular selection - such as targeting specific segments within a subnet - use the alternative interface available in Pathfinder Server.

Scheduling

In this step, define when and how often the job should be executed. You can choose between a simple scheduling format or a more flexible Cron expression for advanced configurations.

Using the basic format, set a start date and time, followed by a recurrence interval. To control when the schedule ends, you can either specify an end date or set a repeat count. If neither is defined, the job will continue to run indefinitely.

Assigning Credentials

In the Credentials tab, select and assign all credential sets required for the job. Pathfinder will attempt to use each assigned credential to access and collect data from all IP addresses within the specified subnets.

If a required credential is not yet available, you can create it directly from within this interface.

Adjusting Job Parameters

Depending on the environment it might be necessary to increase the default timeouts in order to successfully retrieve data. This can be done in the Parameters section. Additionally you can add custom domain servers as well as additional TCP ports to be scanned. By default Pathfinder uses the following ports:

20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 53, 80, 110, 111, 135, 137, 139, 143, 161, 162, 179, 389, 443, 445, 512, 513, 514, 546, 547, 587, 873, 989, 990, 993, 995, 1025, 1433, 1434, 1521, 1812, 1813, 2049, 2082, 2083, 2483, 2484, 3306, 3389, 5060, 5432, 5500, 5900, 6000, 6001, 8000, 8080, 8087, 9000, 9090, 9100, 9876, 10000
