Discovery

The Pathfinder Discovery module offers a straightforward solution for periodically collecting information from active devices via SNMP, and for detecting and documenting previously unknown components with just a few clicks.

Discovery data is gathered through scheduled jobs, which can be configured and managed either in Pathfinder Client or directly in Pathfinder Server, where the jobs are executed.

Once a job retrieves data from a specific IP address, the information becomes available in the Discovery tab within that IP address’s properties. It is also visible in the properties of any components or ports to which the IP address is assigned.

If SNMP data is collected from IP addresses that are not yet linked to a component or port in Pathfinder, these addresses will appear in the Discovered Devices tab in the sidebar. From there, they can be easily documented and assigned as needed.
