Discovery configuration
Connect PFS with the database and open server monitor in browser. Go to the agents tab. In the local agent, note whether auto update is allowed. Create a new agent. You can select the subnets for scans. The subnets can only be added using PFC. So, now that the remote agent is created, selecting that agent, download the agent installer. Once the agent installer zip file is downloaded, unzip it in the intended remote workstation for the newly created remote agent in PFS.
In PFC, go to system>options > discovery configuration and connect to the server:
https://<server name/ IP-address here>:8087.
Next go to the discovery credentials to create the SNMP credentials.
Go to networks and services>discovery job management and add a job. I had to manually start the first job.
Configuration in PFC
Go to System > options > Program settings and select discovery: configure connection. Create a connection to the Pathfinder Server and test the connection to confirm that Pathfinder Client is connected to the Server. You can find more information about the Discovery configuration dialog window here: Discovery Configuration.
When a connection is established, you can start creating the search credentials and discovery jobs for your local and remote agents.
In System, select discovery credentials management and add a new credential. SNMP is used for monitoring and managing network devices. To retrieve information via SNMP, first create SNMP credentials in the Credentials section. Select the SNMP version, the port and, depending on the SNMP version, specify the community or the authentication and privacy details.
